Source: Raiders' Antonio Brown would hold NFL liable for head injury if forced to change helmets - The Athletic

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown’s side warned the NFL during a grievance hearing Friday that if he suffered a head injury in a helmet that he is compelled to wear, he would hold the league liable, a source with knowledge of the hearing said.

Brown, who was traded to the Raiders and then signed a three-year, $50.125 million contract with the team in the offseason, is currently not in camp because he can no longer wear his 12-year-old Schutt Air Advantage helmet under league safety policies, this source said and has been reported since Friday. He did not play in the Raiders’ first preseason game Saturday.

“And I think it’ll be interesting if the NFL forces Antonio to wear a different helmet,” the source said. “And he does play and he doesn’t retire as some people have reported he will do.
